"Europe in between" aims to study Central-Eastern, Balkan and Eastern Europe history beyond the boundaries of the individual disciplines and to reconstruct the medieval and modern cultural history of this geographical space begins on the Adriatic shores to the east at the Volga river's mouth. The publications' object includes the areas occupied mostly by Slavic populations and the process of acculturation and integration of their inhabitants into the Mediterranean culture. This long-lasting process, characterized by the rivalry between the Latin-Germanic and the Byzantine worlds and its complex relations with Asia populations from the steppes, imprints subsequent modern developments. “Europe in between” fully supports Open Access publishing as an ideal tool to share ideas and knowledge in every research field with an open, collaborative and non-profit approach. Open Access books and book chapters allow the research community to achieve a high research impact as well as rapid dissemination in any editorial form.
